Greater efficiency and comfort, and they reduce operating and maintenance costs.
The two new next-generation Cat® M314 and M318 Wheeled Excavators offer multiple design upgrades that increase machine efficiency and reduce long-term operating costs. Advanced hydraulic systems power attachments more efficiently, including Cat tiltrotators, to enhance machine versatility on the job site.
Both next-generation wheeled excavators are powered by the fuel-efficient Cat C4.4 engine, which now meets the strict EU Stage V, US EPA Tier 4 Final, and Korea Tier 4 Final emission standards. Both models deliver high power while enabling up to 5% fuel savings. The larger fuel tank on the M314 extends working time between refuels.
From earth to asphalt, these versatile excavators are designed to quickly tackle a wide variety of projects. The M314 and M318, with up to 15% higher swing torque than the F Series, allow operators to complete tasks faster and move on to the next. With travel speeds exceeding 34 km/h (21 mph), they efficiently move from one job to another.
The versatile next-generation Cat® M316 wheeled excavator delivers improved performance while reducing operating and maintenance costs.
The new next-generation Cat® Wheeled Excavator features an advanced hydraulic system that provides the optimal balance between power and efficiency, delivering the control needed for precision work requirements. The M316 operates faster with up to 14% more swing torque, while auxiliary hydraulic options provide the power and versatility required to effectively use a wide range of Cat attachments. Its exclusive swing pump delivers consistent power to enhance multitasking capabilities.
This versatile new wheeled excavator, capable of quickly tackling a wide range of projects—from auxiliary tasks to general trenching and excavation—efficiently completes tasks on both soil and asphalt surfaces. Its high travel speed, reaching up to 35 km/h (21.7 mph), allows the M316 to move quickly between job sites, maximizing working time.
The Cat C4.4 engine enables the new M316 wheeled excavator to efficiently complete tasks in diverse markets, with the ability to operate at ambient temperatures up to 52 °C (125 °F) and start at low temperatures down to -18 °C (0 °F). The high-efficiency 110 kW (148 hp) engine meets stringent emissions standards: U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V, and Korea Tier 4 Final.
Work comfortably in a more productive way
The M314, M316, and M318 come standard with the new next-generation cab of larger size, which allows operators to get on and off the machine more easily and provides greater comfort and productivity. Thanks to the low-profile engine hood design, the large front, rear, and side windows, and the small cab pillars, visibility of the trench and around the machine is improved, which increases operational safety. The standard rear and side-view cameras further enhance visibility. Advanced elastic mounts reduce cab vibrations, which decreases operator fatigue, and the easily accessible controls help provide greater comfort.
Customers have the option to choose between two cab designs: Deluxe or Premium. The Deluxe cab offers a heated seat with adjustable air suspension, while the Premium cab features a heated and cooled seat that adjusts automatically. Thanks to the ample storage space under and behind the seat, in the upper compartments, and in the consoles, operators have plenty of room to store personal items.
The excavators are started via the cab push button or remotely using a Bluetooth® key fob or the exclusive Operator ID function. The large 240 mm (10 in) touchscreen monitor and short-stroke dial control allow the machine controls to be operated with total ease and flexibility. Operators can program the power mode and joystick settings according to their preferences so that the excavator remembers each operator’s settings upon startup.
With the unique ID, operators can program the power mode and joystick configuration according to their preferences, and the excavator remembers each operator’s settings at startup. The automatic axle lock detects when the service brake needs to be locked or unlocked and releases it automatically when the travel pedal is pressed, reducing the number of actions the operator needs to perform.
The available PRODUCT LINK™ technology increases efficiency.
The new Cat Wheel Excavators M314, M316, and M318 are equipped with standard Product Link™ technology, which provides information on the location, operating hours, fuel consumption, downtime, diagnostic codes, and other machine data.
Reduced maintenance requirements
The longer-life filters on the Next Generation Cat® M314, M316, and M318 Wheeled Excavators offer up to 10% savings in maintenance parts. All fuel filters feature a synchronized 1,000-hour service interval, which doubles the filter’s lifespan. The new hydraulic oil filter enhances filtration and extends the change interval by 50%, setting it at 3,000 operating hours to reduce maintenance requirements. The machine’s new two-stage fuel filtration system provides better protection for diesel fuel cleanliness. The integrated touchscreen monitor in the cab now allows operators to conveniently track maintenance intervals and filter life, maximizing uptime.
The ground-level disconnect switch allows fuel flow to the engine to be cut off and the machine to be shut down, improving safety during maintenance tasks.
Service technicians can quickly check all daily maintenance points from ground level, including engine oil. Cat S∙O∙S SM ports are also conveniently accessible at ground level for taking fluid samples, simplifying maintenance. The perforated, non-slip steps provide safe access to the upper service platform and help prevent slipping.
